From Politics to Pottery

Before shifting gears into pottery, Suze previously served her community as a Member of Provincial Parliament in Toronto, Canada. She was known for her advocacy work on housing, Queer rights, and women’s issues. 

After relocating to California in 2024, Suze spent the next year studying ceramics at Foothill College, and started her small business, Pondview Pottery, in 2025. 

Suze teaches beginner wheel throwing classes and special workshops at South Bay Ceramics, and works full-time out of her home studio in Montara, California. 

Pottery as Play

Suze approaches ceramics as a practice of intentional play. That playfulness can be seen in her commitment to experimentation. She frequently works with new clay bodies, glaze combinations, and experimental techniques. 

Most recently, she has been experimenting with wheel-thrown closed forms to produce sculptural pieces.

The common thread across Suze’s work, whether functional or sculptural, is the expression of everyday joy. Her work is influenced by her queerness, politics, and the simple pleasures of the coastside community she calls home.
